Privacy & your data

Your pursuits are personal. Understanding where your data goes should be straightforward.

Your account

Race the Sun uses account identifiers and the sign-in information you provide to authenticate you and connect your profile with your saved work. Apple, Google or email sign-in may provide different information, depending on the method you choose.

Your profile can include a display name, handle, bio and profile image. A public profile is not the same as a private journal.

What you choose to record

Pursuits, progress values, check-in notes, journal entries and sharing preferences are stored with your account so you can return to them across supported devices. Check-ins include a time-zone identifier, not a GPS coordinate.

Fitness pursuits can contain fitness-related information. Do not include sensitive information you do not want stored in the service. Private means an audience setting; it does not mean your content stays only on your device.

Your audience and community controls

Choose the available private, followers or public audience when creating or editing supported content. Public content may be viewed, copied or shared by others. Changing its audience cannot retrieve a copy someone already saved.

Follows, reactions, comments, notifications, reports and blocks are account-linked service records. Blocking and reporting are available in the app. A report is a request for review, not a guarantee of a particular result or response time.

What stays on this device

The web app uses cookies or browser storage for sign-in, onboarding drafts and pending actions. The iOS app stores sign-in credentials and local preferences, plus owner-specific pending check-in and pursuit-creation requests.

The web deletion flow under review saves an account identifier, request identifier and recovery secret in this browser to check a content-free status after closing a tab or signing out. That status may include a separate Apple-authorization follow-up. Anyone using the same browser profile can check that status. The receipt does not authorize a new deletion or reveal journal content. Clearing site data, browser eviction or private browsing can remove it; it is not a cross-device backup.

Pending actions are not a promise that every journal edit is saved offline. Check the save status before leaving an editor. Signing out, clearing site data or uninstalling the app is separate from deleting server-side account data.

Services that make the app work

Race the Sun uses Supabase for authentication, application data and supported file storage, and Vercel for the website and web app. Sign-in providers and hosts serving profile images also receive the requests necessary for those features.

Hosting and authentication services may process connection details such as IP addresses and request logs. Provider logging, backup retention, processing locations and operational access are still part of the launch review; this notice does not make a no-collection or no-tracking promise.

Photos and feature availability

Private journal-photo upload is disabled in the current release while Storage and device checks are completed. Existing profile images and older media are separate from that feature.

The photo feature will need verified access controls, cleanup behavior and updated disclosures before it is enabled.

Deleting your account

Account deletion is not enabled in this build. You can review the intended flow from Settings → Delete your account. Signing out is not account deletion.

The flow under review requires a recent sign-in and explicit confirmation. Once accepted, the account is locked while files, application records and the sign-in account are processed. Interrupted work retains a deletion receipt; it is not reported as complete merely because a request was sent.

For Apple-linked accounts without a saved revocable token, the flow under review does not require removing Apple authorization before deleting Race the Sun data. After cleanup, it provides a separate step to remove the app’s authorization in Apple Account settings. This does not delete your Apple Account or claim that Apple authorization was removed automatically.

A minimal status record remains after completion. Final retention periods for that record, backups, logs and any required operational records have not been approved. Apple sign-in revocation and older-media cleanup also remain release requirements.
